I need the correct engine paint code and color for a 1970 buick 350. I had read in a previous article that duplicolor code 1608 was the correct paint but when i went to the store the paint is a blue color. Any help would be great.

    Thanks, Nick

I think it's the right color if you are going to use spray cans. If you are going to spray it with a paint gun, I'm not sure what is closest.

Good point, Frank...I've always used cans myself so I never had to figure out a mix for the gun.

    Nice engine compartment!

    NAPA carries it.

I went with a 2000 GM 'Standard Red'. It's a bit more red and less purple than the Duplicolor. The early GS's appear to be more red than the Duplicolor anyway. A qt of single-stage urethane was about $25. Pics soon:bglasses:

I use International Tractor Red, it is virtually identical.
