I have a '73 GS that has power disc/drum brakes that I would like to convert to manual disc/drum. What master cylinder is needed and what else is needed for this conversion?

    Thanks

I don't understand why anyone who would want to convert to a less effective braking system.

not sure on the master, should be the same. but you'll need a the factory linkage, I have an extra I might be willing to sell. You'll also have to use the other hole on the pedal for more leverage...

  4. I bought a master cylinder for a 1970 Oldsmobile W30. they came with manual disc brakes

I will have a brand spanking new one(the same Bob referred me to) for sale as soon as I get a master cylinder from a S10 for my racecar. You may get a better deal at your NAPA to get one though, it will save shipping cost.

Thanks guys for your input. Why are you going to use a S10 master?

I would guess he is useing an S10 master cylinder since they are alluminum with a plastic resivoir instead of the 75 pound factory deal. just a guess. I also think manual brakes was an option in the early years for those vehicles.

Joe is correct. I am knocking off 10 lbs at the minimum going to the plastic and aluminum master cylinder. I have the W 30 unit and its not a lightweight piece at all...
