Im going to be putting a TH-350 in my car as soon as I can find a good one for a reasonable price.Im going to be putting a shift kit in it,but I have a question about stall speed,What rpm should I get for my combo?

    300 bored .30 over
    Poston 110A Cam
    lightweight lifters and chromoly pushrods
    Headers
2.5" Mandrel Bent exhaust with Cheapie Dynomax
    Stock rear for now(2.56 gears?)
With the stock converter Im having a problem with the cars idle dropping really low in gear, and if you try to double foot it,it pushes through the brakes.
    Thanks,
    Philip

The ST300 switch pitch would be perfect for that cam. If that isn't an option, for best performance, you want the converter to stall above where the power range starts. The SB110A cam's power range is 1400-6000. I'd say about a 1800-2000 RPM stall should do it.

Im thinking about going with a th-350 for the shorter 1st gear.I have the St-300 in there right now. With it in high stall at a stop the cars idle drops down to around 550-600rpm I think it should idle higher, but any higher and your pushing through the brakes.Any insight?
    Thanks,
    Philip

I would think about having the converter modified for higher stall speeds. PM Jim Weise. He has someone that is good with the SP converters.
