Today was the day I felt like I was in my own cable TV car show when for the first time we cranked the newly rebuilt 400 BB installed over the past two weeks in the 67 Sportwagon. At first, even though we had squirted gas in the quad carburetor the engine cranked over but no sign of firing. Checked everything and had spark to the plugs, saw gas squirting from the accelerator pump, but engine not firing. Carefully aligned the timing mark on the balancer, checked position of rotor to number one cylinder spark plug wire, and all was OK. Decided to put more gas in the carb and bingo! the engine fired and continued to run and we started adjusting carb jets etc. It has a mild cam in it so it lopes a bit at idle but smooths out real quick. Will continue to adjust timing, etc. to get it to be in top shape.

I have a couple of videos I took that are in my pictures and video files on my computer but for some reason they do not show up when I try here to upload a file, very frustrating.

We finish the disk brakes tomorrow, take the car to the muffler shop to finish the exhaust system (installed the exhaust pipes and mufflers before we started the engine) and then should be good to go for final interior installation next week and some red pin stripes. Really looking forward to getting getting the car on the road with new 400 engine and see how it performs.

    Good times ahead:D

That's great news! How did the break in go? Good temp and oil pressure??

Got up to 190 degrees after 10 minutes and stayed there. Have not driven car yet as we are finishing disk brakes.

    Congratulations!! :)

I don't know if videos are supported any more with this new forum software. Why don't you upload your videos to any upload service like YouTube and provide us with a link? It isn't as convenient, but that is certain to work.

    Keep us posted!

    Cheers, Edouard
