I bought some new parts for my console and need to remove it to replace them. Can somebody give me some instructions on how to take it out without breaking it?

I've taken the bolts out of the console box, but I cant figure out where to go from there.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Pop up the BUICK emblem in the front. Under it will be two large Phillips screws...remove both.

Next, remove the handle chrome top bar..underneath are 4 Phillips screws that need to be removed in order to slip off the handle. Console will now come out.

I got the Buick logo off (in two pieces - not good). Actually, It was cracked and probably broken already. The logo was glued down. I had to pry it up. Certainly I couldn't have broke it!:Dou: It seems like it should have had some clips or snaps that snap into the console.

Since I haven't seen these logos for sale, I imagine they're hard to come by and cost some :dollar: . If I can't find one, I'll glue the pieces back on like they were. Something doesn't seem right about that.

My shifter doesn't have the chrome insert. The plastic portion is all black. It may be a different year shifter from the car. Any ideas here. I'm hoping not to break that too. I tried to attach a picture, but as the day is going, I couldn't get it to upload to my web account. My security is probably blocking that.

As always any suggestions are appreciated.

There should have been small claws on the back of the Buick emblem.

George, I emailed you the picture of my shifter.

I'm also including a link to the picture. I hope it works!

Dave, There are no claws on the bottom of the emblem. They must have broken off earlier in the console's life, which is why it was glued down. If you know where I can get a new/used emblem, I'd sure appreciate it.

If I can't get one, I'll have to glue back what I have. I'd rather do it right though.

    Thanks for the help,

    Chris

I see your problem now.....you have a 70-2 Chevelle/Monte Carlo floor shift handle. I don't know how to take apart those handles...maybe someone else has some info for you.

Chris, I have the extra claw part only but no plastic. it is a metal strip that was glued to the plastic. This is off one that I had that was broken years ago.

    Dave,

If your interested in selling your extra claw part, I'd like to buy it. I can glue my logo pieces to it. Then I can take it apart again later without doing more damage.

    Thanks,

    Chris
