compression

    Just got my 455 together compression came in at 10.33 Is this to high for 93 octane? Any one running same numbers . thanks

    It may run on it, however you would be pushing it.

    I hope this is OK because it is what I am setting my new motor up with. The key to making this work are to make sure you have no hot spots on the pistons or heads. This means no sharp edges and have everything polished. The second is to make sure you have around .040 clearance between the flat part of your piston and your head surface. I think this is called the quench clearance.

    i have 11 to 1, everthing polished, normal driving i can run on 92 octane till it gets above 80, i always run 96+ when i race. what pistons are you running??? if you have forged i wouldnt worry to much. on my stock 70 455 stage 1 moter ,i drove it hard for another 60,000 miles, after just reringing it and tuning the crank, abused it and made it knock all the time and never had a problem, untill i ran it to hot and low on oil and put a rod threw the block.
