Okay, I defer to the masters here. I have some complimentary 8 Tracks listed on ebay right now. One is "a sound step ahead" -which is an undated tape produced by Columbia. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7121497354 I have quite a few Buick tapes and was told that Buick used Columbia first year, then switched to RCA. I have been emailed saying this is a 1972 tape. I am not sure, but the thing is-if you look at the songs on the tape and check the internet for the release dates by those artists, the newest one is 1967. I also have the RCA tapes with copyright 1970 (listed now), copyright 1971(not for sale) , and copyright 1972 (listed) by RCA. So did they have an RCA tape and a Columbia tape for 1972 models? Does anyone know what year this tape is for? My assumption was 1967. o No:
I do know none of those on e-bay are a '70. I have an NOS one and it is different. My guess is since the cars came out the prior fall ('71 came out in fall of '70) that a copyright of '71 would be for a '72 car and so on. Jeff
I agree, my 1970 model year tape is copyright 1969, my '68 is copyright 1967, etc. However all of the tapes that I have for 1967-1979 (and I think I have one of every year) are RCA tapes. It would seem strange to me that they would make a Columbia tape in between all of the RCA ones..?
Can you post pics of the various year's tapes? I'd like to see a 1970 as I have an 8-track player but haven't installed it yet.
I will have to dig my '70 out of the garage. I believe the cover is blue and yellow if I remember correctly.
I know that the tape for 1970 was titled "The Happy Sound" and was released by RCA in 1970. It has a white 8 track body with a black and white label. There was another tape released for 1970 and it was also on the RCA label. This tape had a white 8 track body with a red and white label.
I have a 1968 tape listed on ebay as well. It is an RCA tape with a 1967 copyright date. That is kind of why I thought this Columbia was a 1967.
checked again I checked again with a close friend that is a 72 Big Buick Guru - he is positive that the one in question is the 72 tape. I am going to try to get a list of the various titles of the yearly tapes that was compiled a while back - give me some time to dig it up.
