Hey We're restoring a 70 GS convertible with a white top and white interior. The original color was Bamboo Cream. Our ideas are Sherwood Green, Diplomat Blue, or Burgundy Mist. Opinions?
Diplomat blue or burgundy mist would be my vote with the white interior. Either would make for a sharp car.
Then Bamboo Cream it is, or prepare to lose value for the sale. If it were a keeper I'd say do as you wish. Devon
If you're concerned about your return on the investment painting the car a good resale color is very important. If I was going to paint one that had white int and white top I would paint it 1970 Gulfstream Blue. That is one of the highest resale colors in my opinion. The red GS emblems and the Red stripe on the rockers really pop on that color combo. Bamboo cream is not the best resale color and remember you're trying to pull buyers from all over NOT just Buick guys. Top list for me would be : Gulfstream Blue Tealmist Gray (Rare color and looks fantastic in person) Diplomat Blue
Not Bamboo or a 1970 but. I like the color combo, white top and interior. If it had a black top and interior, I would not be a fan. Blue's with white top and interior are really nice though. If I had to repaint mine, I would consider going with a blue but would end up staying with the original color.
If it will be sold I agree with others that Bamboo Cream should be kept. By the way, it was the number 2 most chosen color in 1970 behind Burnished Saddle. If you like blue nothing shows better than Stratomist Blue IMO. It was an optional Riviera color and goes well with red trim and white top and interior.
I would consider the level of restoration you are aiming for and also whether or not a BBB car, as, if re-sale is of concern these matters come into play. Historically, GS 350 cars and non-numbers matching cars will not command the big bucks that BBB cars sell for. Also, you may decide that you want to keep the car much longer than you anticipate now.
