How many people drive there cars in the cold weather, and how cold :Do No: I play basketball every Tuesday and Thursday night and like to drive my GS as long as I can. I know it doesn't hurt the car, but was just curious how many other people drive them as long and often as you can before putting them away. The weather says it's only going to be betweeen 50 and 55 degrees here today, so it will probably be below 40 degrees coming how with the car tonight :Do No: I'm hoping to be able to drive it almost right up until we start getting the white stuff. Then it will be put away for sure. Although the way this year has been, the white stuff probably isn't too far away :(

The days HAVE to hit 50. I don't care how cold it gets at night. I'llbe driving until the end of October here, that's farther than most people push it. I stop really enjoying it around this time, But I know it'll be a long cold winter.

I am driving my cars as long as I can. Thats usually until they start salting the roads here in Sweden. This past weekend I drove my 64 LeSabre to Porvoo (50km east of Helsinki) in Finland visiting a friend. Hopefully I can drive it at least til November.

Is it hard to find parts there? What do you do to solve the problem?

As long as the roads are clean, I'll drive my car. I've taken it out in January and February. It's been in the 20's, but the roads were clean.

Ditto. If you think BBB loves a big carb, they really love cold air.

I usually drive my car until late October, as long as early a.m. temps are at least in the 40's and it's dry. This year I put it into commercial storage instead, last week, 'cause I needed it out of the way for moving in a couple weeks. Really bummed about it too, we're getting temps in the 70's the next several days... :(

    SkylarkSteve Hello Michael

My car's a daily driver, so as long as the roads arent covered in saltly slush I drive it. Probably the coldest day last year I drove it was in the single digits. Kinda scared me because the starter was running pretty slow that time.

As long as it doesn't snow, I drive it. After the first snow, I put it away. But if there is a warm spell--you know the answer.

I'm with Phil on this - I dont formally put my car away for the winter. If its nice and the roads are clear, I dont care what month or how cold it is....Im going Cruisin' !!!

Most important is a good warmup - I like to let the water temp get to at least 160 deg. and see the oil pressure drop 15-20# from its cold start - so thats usually from 60-65# down to 45-50#

Word of caution though - last year I scared myself preeeeeeety good. Beautiful Sunny Feb morning, The roads were clear, it was in the teens So....I took the GS to my parents house (about 40 miles) - no problem. Coming home in the afternoon though was another story as even though the roads were clear, there was plowed snow on the sides of the road. The Sun hitting the pavement all day had melted small amounts of it - enought to cause black ice once the sun went down low in the horizon. I hit several patches of it on the highway - one on the entrance ramp , another around a sloping bend, and the other on the exit ramp. It was also alittle dicey once I got back into my neighborhood where there was black Ice from the same melting effect at several stop signs

So if you do venture out on a nice sunny day in the winter....watch out for black Ice caused from melting snow on the road.

Hi Jim, I dont have any real problem with parts. There are a lot of people into American cars and dealing with parts here. I have been to the US many times buying parts and cars.

I drive mine as long as the roads are clean (no salt). The last few years I've taken it out a few times during the winter months. It is pretty much my daily driver in the summer (not this year..major engine problem).
