When i start the cold engine it runs a little rough, when i push down the manifold choke spring which opens the choke it starts to run smooth. As soon as the cold engine runs the choke needs to be open a little more i guess, how would you adjust that? Don't want to bend anything though.

    Thanks.

You're going to have to bend the internal choke rod, unfortunately.

This is from the chassis manual:

The front vacuum break, the same one that controls the secondary air valve, also opens the choke blade against thermostatic spring tension. Make sure that is being pulled in when the engine starts.

Watch that front vacuum break (choke pull off)

Thanks Larry. I had that vacuum break replaced a couple years ago because it was broken. The new one was a big improvement. That engine bay looks brand new. What kind of gauge did you install next to the brake booster?

It's a vacuum gauge I had that I wasn't using. I use it to adjust idle mixture.

When it comes to bending a rod, this isn't the rod of the heat spring inside the manifold?

If the intake/divorced choke setup is stock, no.

It's on the passenger, inside the carburetor, connected to the choke flap/blade.
