Alrighty, so the other day my ignition coil started leaking fluid and so I went and bought another one. Got it all installed and now all the engine does when I turn the key is click rapidly. Nothing else. What the heck did I do? Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, one more thing. where in the heck is the starter on this thing so I can check that out as well. I know, I know. I'm new :)

    Sounds like flat a battery.
You might have left the ignition on, overheated the coil, (causing the coil to explode/leak), and flatten the battery in the prosses.

Is a flat battery the same as a dead battery? Cause this battery doesn't seem to be dead. I guess this coil could have been defective. I'll take it back and see about exchanging it.

Might want to make sure your battery has a full charge in it before you do anything.

The coil has nothing to do with whether the engine cranks or not. You have another problem. If the battery is charged, look at all your connections, at the battery and starter motor.

Hey, thanks for all the info. I'm going to trace all of the connections tomorrow and make sure the wires are all in good shape. It just seems kinda strange that my engine would stop starting the second I put on a new coil. I hear the starter going nuts, just nothing is happening. There is an orange colored wire up by the voltage regulator that is disconnected. Just noticed that tonight. Any clue where that should go? I'll let you guys know the progress. Thanks again for your help.

You say you hear the starter going nuts. Is it cranking the engine, or just spinning. What we need to know is whether you have a won't crank problem, or a won't start problem. Check for spark. Pull a plug wire off, and position the end near a metal ground. Then have someone crank the engine, and see if you notice a spark.

The starter is spinning, but it isn't cranking the engine at all. There is no spark whatsoever. Any thoughts on the orange wire I mentioned earlier? It is part of the harness that runs on the passenger side along the valve cover. The disconnected end comes out right next to the voltage regulator. Maybe I jarred it loose when doing something else, but I can't find what it connects to. Thanks.

If the starter is not rotating the engine, there will be no spark. The moving points will control coil current, no switching, no spark. Let's address one thing at a time. As previously stated, the coil will not affect the starter. Ray
