    I'm looking for information on what the orginal info was with my 70 skylark convert.

    here is the stamping under the hood

    st70 44467FL1 083078BDY
    TR 285 25 A PNT

    I'm curious to know what all the orginal specs were on my car.

    thanks

    Hi Nate -

    • ST 70 is Style 1970 (1970 model year)
    • 44467 is (4) Buick (44) Skylark Custom (67) 2-door convertible
    • FL1 - Flint Built
    • 083078 BDY - Fisher body number, Not related to VIN, but a serial number for the Flint Fisher body plant
    • TR 285 - Trim number. :Do No: I cannot find 285 anywhere. 185 is pearl white buckets. Could this be it?
    • 25 A PNT - Paint codes. Lower body code 25 is Gulfstream Blue and upper body code A is white vinyl top
    • There is a third line that will be two numbers and a letter. This represents your final assembly date. The two numbers is the month and the letter is the week. Example 08A would be first week August, 08B would be second week August, etc...

    Please double check your trim code. Thanks!

    Sounds right

    "A" is white convertible top, 10D is the last week of October which is consistant with your date of 10/22:TU:

    Hi everyone! I just got my 66 skylark yesterday an would like a little help with the cowl tag. I understand most of it, but can't decipher the options on the bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    st 68 = 1968
    44469 = Skylark Custom 4 Door Sedan
    fl1 = Flint Plant
    53600 body = Individual Body Number at the Fisher Body Plant
    TR 133 = Champagne Cloth and Vinyl Bench Seat
    G-G Paint = Ivory Gold Mist paint (no vinyl)

    To my knowledge it is not possible to tell what the original rear end and transmission was from the Body plate information.
