    Whats up team,

Here is my question "What should I do first?"

I am a 41 year old Riviera rookie. Ive spent twenty years designing programs for at risk teenagers. I know a little about cars cars under the hood. In 87 I was given a 66 Riviera. I loved this car. At the time I didnt know what I had. When It broke down, my Witch - oh I mean "Wife". made me get ride of it. Before I did, I was looking for parts to fix it, when I came across a 65 Riviera. To Make a long story shorter, I got rid of the Riviera and my wife that year. After all of these years of dreaming of owning a 65, buying thousands of mags, and going to car shows, I went to visit my new neigboor. And while standing in his back yard there it was. That famos grill showing through the weeds. A fully intack 65 Riviera, White ext, black int. in great shape. no dents or bondo. My neigboor said his son restored it. He hit a rock, busting a hole in the oil pan freezing the engine. That was three years ago. That is all that is wrong with the car.
I am not great wrench , Yet! I will learn. Until then I must trust the local mechanics.
I need some advise not to be taken advantage of.

    Welcome to the board:TU:
I would pull the motor and tear it down to see how bad it was hurt. As long as there are no holes in the block, or things sticking out, you may be in luck with a standard rebuild. The pan is not a big deal to find.
Post a picture of your Riv, as it is always nice to see more Big Buicks around.
Also please put your name in your signature as we are all friends here

Perfect, I have a good Tool man. He is a very cool and very disfunctional old man named Jim. He used to build race cars back in the day. I live in a very small village in the mountains. My choices for mechanics and teachers is limited. I think Jim is in the first stages of ALzheimer's. SO your advise is greatly apprieated.

I have an oil pan and pickup tube I will sell you for $35. It came off of a '66 425 that came out of a '66 Riveria. No dents, and has a new plastic sealing ring on the drain plug. Drain tube is in perfect shape as well. Stonesautomotive@juno.com
