Anyone have posten valve covers on their 350 s in an X body.Just installed mine and they are rubbing on the brake booster. Not having any good luck with these valve covers when I bought them I had to get them plained .They were so far off they never would have sealed and now they rub against the brake booster.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers How long ago did you buy them, and where? Privately or a vendor? I know in the past there were warping issues on Poston's 350 covers that I personally experienced, but that was 5+ yrs ago? Are yours new? Is there enough material left that you could remove it sufficiently to gain clearance?
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers apollo is different than the later skylarks. did not have a fit problem with my postons.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers The guy who made the valve covers for Poston spends time on this site. You may want to post your question on the "Bench" to see if he can give you information on the fit.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers Actually, the guy who made them is not a Buick guy, or a car guy for that matter. He just had the equipment and made the right bid for the Poston job.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers With my girlfriends apollo there is very little room between the booster and valve cover. I'm not surprised that they don't fit. they are quite a bit taller then the factory covers. Poston probably should have specified they wont work with an x body with power brakes. you could always buy a smaller booster.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers Did they even specify that they would work in an X body? I don't have any old Poston books to look up. BTW, this is an OLD thread, and the OP never even came back.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers FWIW- In the catalog it states that there are no clearance problems and they fit with all power accessories.
Re: clearance problem for posten valve covers But it doesn't mention X body cars. Last I looked at the online catalog, it had 2 sections, one for the older GS/Skylark and one for GN/Regal.
