So I got the interior out and the rear belts are NASTY, and I know there has to be a secret formula for cleaning them. So what is it???

Put socks over the clasps and wash in the machine on "gentle" cycle with Woolite. I have done this with good results.

I have soaked them in a bucket with my grandmothers secret recipe.
Tide, and Electrosol dish powder then wash with a fabric softener. Hand them up and let them dry.
You won't believe how dirty the water gets.

    Seatbelts

I have just laid them out on the driveway, sprayed them with ample amounts of Castrol Superclean, and let them soak. Then just take a soft scrubbrush, brushing with the "grain" if you will. Rinse them thoroughly, then hang them up to dry. Then I just clean, polish, and touch up the buckles. Does a nice job.

Cleaned up a set I bought recently. Very surprised at the results. Cleaned up like new.
#1 Saturate any oil contamination with WD-40 & gently brush with a hand brush.
#2 Fill a plastic laundry tub ( 16X16X6 is mine) with warm water. Add a bunch of Spray Nine to the solution. I'm guessing about 5%, I just poured until it looked right.
#3 Let soak overnight. Next day gently brush again with hand brush. Remove water/dirt with a shop vac, let air dry.

Remember to use the old wooden clothes line clips, the buckles are to heavy for those cheap plastic clips!

Lots of good ideas on here, I'll give you my process too. I use spray-nine, lay the belts out, soak them down real good, use a fingernail scrub brush going with the grain. After you scrub that side, do the other side the same way, then rinse the belt completely and hang up to dry.

    Repeat if neccesary.

The belts come out looking like new.

One thing I've always wondered about was if all these different cleaning methods might somehow harm the ability of the belts to do their job. Hopefully not, but I wouldn't let any cleaning products dry on the belts.
