Bill, My auto body supply house has aluminum cleaner. Not sure what is in it. You may want to try TSP - available at all home centers... a powder... Tri Sodium Phosphate... cuts grease like you've never seen!

Try some Go Jo cream hand cleaner. We use it to clean off the baked on exhaust and oil on the belly of aircraft with aluminum skins.
