Paid $800. for mine i think. Pontiac judge 12 bolt. Off of board member. But the dipped it. rebuilt it . Restoreded it. Then the crazy prices on ebay. Then the people who stock pile them and dont sell them. And then when we die. This stuff will be worth nothing . Because the younger generation doesn’t care.
If its actually in good working condition and known to be so,..I'd feel ok at 1k,..the people asking $1k for stock non posi housing are off their meds imo,..there are guys who will pay upwards of 1500 for that rear tho
The price will depend heavily on what it's coded for then. If it's an original 4.10 rear then its worth more than a typical 12 bolt.
I've come to realize there are 2 types of older car ppl. 1 wants there car to look nice and perform, they want to drive them. And whatever it takes to make them do it is ok. The other wants everything to be factory original, the car sits, begs to be driven enough to keep the battery charged. Nothing wrong with either, but if its an original 4.10 coded 12 bolt posi, pit free, ready to run, I bet you could almost get close to enough to buy a mower 12 bolt or s60. Either would be a better stronger unit than the factory 12 bolt
Couldn't have said it better! People that collect old stuff just to say "I've got 4 of 'em" I DONT CARE PAL We are in our own circle so to speak, were mostly middle age, yep, when we die off, theres going to be 12 bolts laying around, rare V8 engines, transmissions, hood tachs, bumpers, the younger 4 cyl guys aren't going to care. Kinda reminds me of this video, a cool V16 Detroit, its old, heavy, not a lot of power for its size, but its COOL, nobody wants it
Those 2 stroke Jimmies were built for longevity. The 12-71s (2 at 852 CI each) in my 67 foot Hatteras (N/As) naturally aspirated with 2 6-71 blowers each, made a whalloping 550 horsepower each at 2250 rpm on the governors. Ten to fifteen thousand hours is not unheard of. ws SPOOLEM UP! ws
I Sold a 12 Bolt housing for a 1969 Chevelle coded for 3:73 gears which i believe were only available with 396 375hp engine. It was a bare housing with the carrier caps and bolts and I got $600.00 for it.
