    In order to get a title for the Wagon with trailer hitch I need to convince the inspector of RDW (equivalent of DMV) that the hitch is a Class III... but how do I recognise a Class III. Is there some sort of identification label?:

    There should be stampings on it to id the capacities.

    U'Haul's definition of a class 3 hitch is an undercar frame mounted hitch that has a rating of up to 7,500 lbs. I've seen other info on class 3's that say they have to be up to 5,000 lbs. I would say the higher rating is more accurate.

    If you have any documentation on the hitch, or as was mentioned earlier, any stampings or markings, that is what you need. Then again, if DMV disagrees with the rating, you are SOL anyway. They kind of make their own rules sometimes.

    @ David: thanks for the info...will have another good look tomorrow :TU:

    @ Ken: this is what the Buick Facts book says about it:

    Sounds like DMV is like the dutch RDW; it depends on the station/inspector how to interpret the law :puzzled: ;
    f.e. my request to get license plates with US sizes one inspector told me it was "impossible due to regulation bla bla bla"... 5 minutes later another inspector told me "yes you can due to regulation bla bla bla" :shock:

    Ah yes, you have a government full of double speaking beaurocrats on your side of the pond too.:laugh: :laugh:

    I wouldn't seek a third opinion.:puzzled:

    I also thought I had some info laying around, but I must have tossed it out.:Dou: :Dou:

    I kept the second inspector's interpretation :Brow: :
