Clanking from Distributor Area

    There's a very annoying sound coming from the dizzy area on my '56 Buick. It happens at idle in park or drive. If I tap the trottle it goes away - only happens at low rpms. It's kind of a squeeking/clanking that's consistent with the rpms.

    Distributers actually have a oiling system,,, you need to pull the dist. out and check it out... clean it up, open up the oil holes and ck out the bushings, and the main shaft... clean and lube the advance weights, and while your at it set up a good advance curve... then new seals, felt wick , and o ring... the drive gear is most likely OK... never have found a bad one on a nailhead....
    re install and set the timing and you are good to go....
