 Not a Buick, but still kinda neat. http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/cto/3118702582.html NOT MINE.
Didnt know there was such a thing! Sure is pretty. And makes me think a little more seriously about a red interior in my GS
There was a drawing of a Monte Carlo convertible in the 1970 Chevrolet Accessories brochure. I like the skirts :TU: And here's something interesting: Another 1972 Monte Carlo convertible, featured last year on the Hemmings website : Click image to view article :Comp:
There was a guy here in the nw that built one years ago and it was nice. He told me everything was off a Chevelle. Only thing I didnt like it was a manual top not pwr.
I just read an article about this bloke, he was using 1971 Skylark Custom convertible parts for his 1972 Monte Carlo ragtop :TU:
I remember the first one I ever saw, I thought it was gorgeous. The guy used all the convert pieces from a wrecked Chevelle, power top and all. I always liked the 70-72 Montes. Duane
The project was canned because GM had enough convertibles in it's line up and sales were declining on convertibles. I've seen both Grand Prix and Monte convertibles, the guys I talked to about it said it's a fairly simple conversion with a Chevelle, Cutlass, Skylark or Lemans donor. ]
I love a convertible, and love seeing the 'what ifs' that are out there. The Grand Prix and Monte from Hemmings look perfect. The OP's listing is awesome too, but I wonder what's up with the rear quarters-it looks like his donor car had a taller/higher top stack and his rear inner panels are tall like a 68/69 Chevelle. I've never done bodywork, but I really respect those who do this kind of thing and go the extra step to look truly factory--like Duane's X-Camino for example.
