    Poppaluv I CALL WINNERS!!!

Have spent several thou there. Recently sent check to clear balance. Recieved notice of late fee. Called cust. service and explained the bill was paid, apparently never reached them. Figured they would waive the fee-NOT. It's in the contract. I said it's in every contract for4 every card I own, but EVERY time I called Capital 1,Best buy, they gave me the benefit if the doubt. She replyed that I have several options on payment(on-line ,Phone, store). I said don't forget USPS (that is an option right?) Not the're prob-mine, well how do I sue the USPS-since it was the're job to deliver it . This has never happened to me before, every other card has let me slide for being a dollar over my limit or $ not posting for a day. I can't believe this, I even spoke to a supervisor about this-to no avail. I finally just explained that the plasma I was going to buy w/ my tax check will be from Best Buy even if it is 10 miles further (gives us an excuse to take the 'Lark for a walk-that is if I can ever get to Fla. to get it!!)
    O.K deep breaths-feel a lil' better now-whew!!! :Do No:

I don't use any credit card that won't let me pay ACH through my credit union. Discover actually called and said your use is way down. I told them that unless they clear ACH I won's use it. I wasn't the first person to tell them that. They tried to get me to use their website to pay but I won't do that either. By paying electronically the payment is received in 2 business days and I never have to worry about the mail system getting it there on time. Too many cards send the bill out as late as possible so you only have a few days to pay and get it there before the penalty/interest phase kicks in. I closed my Cuircut City card a long time ago. The free interest isn't worth the hassle of making sure the payment game is played so you don't get hurt.

I stopped going to Circuit City years ago b/c of their predatory sales tactics and heavy pushing of useless service contracts (let alone bait-and-switch and non-competitive prices).

Of course, their business practices have hurt them, and I believe that is why they ran into financial trouble.

I think I've had 2 instances in the past 10-15 yrs where a credit card payment didn't reach in time to post by the due date. Both times I got the late fee waived, on a one-time only basis, when I called and asked about it. I used to mail payments maybe 3 days before the due date. Now I always mail no less than 7 days before due dates, and haven't had a problem since. We don't have a Circuit City here, we've got Best Buy and Media Play. BB is really bad about pushing service agreements too, but they drop the sales pitch quickly when I say I'm not interested.

    I'll drive a lil' more....

to go to Best Buy from now on. I don't know if C.C. works off of commission or not , but not at Best Buy. They are always helpful and nice. C.C never has movies,DVD's etc, the day they should , and never know when they're going to. Also the local C.C. is kinda "in the hood erea" of New Orleans, and lets just say they're not exactly customer friendly. :error:

    service contract comeback

When ever a sales man tries to push a service contract, I ask: Are you telling me this thing is going to break down on me right after the factory warranty?"

Not one has said "yes" yet. Of course then I tell them I shouldn't need a service contract.

Ive worked in electronics at sears for over a year now....were very simular to to circuit city and all the other places.....and for about a year now Ive hated my job. It sucks having to work there, Im really getting sick of it.....just having to deal with people non stop, most that are such a pain....and service contracts? Ha, dont even bring them up anymore, just skip right over it....Im tired of having to try and trick people into buying them....their good on the wicked cheap stuff, but you get what you pay for....get jvc, toshiba sony, etc.....not apex, daewoo, koss etc....Im trying to get away from this job, and right now am actually working for my dads construction company (alot more satisfying) but still working about 16-20 hours/week at sears.

    Circuit City Sucks a$$

I baught my first computer from c.c. About 10 month after buying it the motem goes outso I take it in to get fixed under warrenty. When I get it back they tell me that the new motem has a one year warrenty. Well about 10 months later the motem goes out again so I take it to the nearest C.C. which is about 60 miles from where i lived at the time. They tell me that they will send it in to be repaired and come back in two weeks and it will be done. I go back two weeks later and they don't have it back from the repair shop. They tell me that is not covered under warrenty anymore and that they were waiting for me to give the OK to fix it. After arguing with them for an hour I tell to just send it back. I made three 120 mile round trips and they would do a thing to cover THEIR warranty. I'll NEVER go to C.C. again.

I did that when I bought my first Discman. However, they told me they break all the time. I then suggested that they must lose a lot of money. Never bought the contract, and the player lasted about 6-7 years and was then stolen.

I've had the exact opposite experience. I will never step foot in a BEST BUY again, even though they are headquartered here in Minneapolis. I have never been treated so poorly, over and over again, as I have at Best Buy. I research what I'm going to buy before I get to the store. Everytime I get some 16 yo kid telling me I don't know what I'm talking about. :af: Besides, CC had better prices than BB, at least here. I also get this when I go to buy a car...and I love telling the "salesperson" more about the car then they know

    Circuit City

The only experance I had was a bad one for service on a receiver. There service on electronic is the worst I've seen. Three times tring to fix my CD play and one of the times I picked it up someone damaged it at Circuit City and then they fixed there accident then tried to charge me for it then it still does not work and the third time and I still have a broken CD receiver. Later I took the receiver to another service center ("R.T.Grimms) and they said it would cost around $300.00 to fix Circuit City's mistakes! AL.

had an experience with "extended service plans" at sears
bought a new sony DVD/VCR combo player, and a 1 year extended service plan with it.
the player shot craps, 1 day after the manufacturer warranty expired. so i call to get it fixed under the extended service plan...WRONG! they told me that the extended plan superceded the manufacturer warranty!  after 2 months of yelling, i finally got them to exchange it for a new one. they asked if i wanted a plan for this one, i said...NO!!

tlivingd BIG BLOCK, THE ANTI PRIUS

it sux. sony and other makers would put a longer warranty on it but the sales companies push back saying only put a 90 day on it so we can sell "Service Plans" I picked up some DCM speakers at circut city open item. they tried to sell me the service plan for 1 yr on them. I take a quick look at the paperwork for the speakers. 3yr parts and labor and 12yr parts factory warranty on them. just take a look at the warranty paperwork before buying a service plan. they also don't sell DCM at CC anymore, atleast around here.

If i'm buying a laptop though, I would get the service plan on them or find out if the manuf. offers an extention on them. I'm also rough with my laptops. I've seen TONS of problems with laptops and you can't replace components on them like other computers inexpensively, it's generally a whole board that gets replaced.
