i really havent had a need for my cigerette lighter (seeing as how i dont smoke) but i just got a g-tech and the darn thing wont work in my car. works in everyone elses but mine. i wouldnt be so frustrated if when i pushed in the lighter element thing and it heated up. could it be getting to much power? when i plug in the g-tech it gets very warm but doesnt turn on. it also has an inline fuse but the fuse never blows on it. anybody have any ideas, im almost to the point where im going to rig up a universal cigrette lighter to a hot & ground to run the g-tech.thanks for any suggestions joel
make sure that there is a good ground for whatever you plug into the lighter. As for too much voltage I think if anything it would be to little. just a few ideas.
i've noticed that my cig lighter is bigger around (the heating part) than newer ones. it could be the ground not touching the diameter of the socket. Nate
but the wierd thing is, is the fact that the g-tech gets warm so it has to be making some sort of connection. im stumped on this one. the ground maybe a little iffy on the connection because i cant visually see it connect but the positive is working( the outer ring) thanks for the suggestions joel
well i have one of those indicator lights that you clamp to a ground; in my case my shifter and touch the other end to the positive to see if current is running through, and i touched the outer ring with the end and it lights up. i own a 70 gran sport. hey! just had an idea, maybe my wires are switched? would that make a difference? im going to look into that... thanks, for the info there. joel
yea g-tech works now, i havent gotten to get some good readings yet becuase of school today and went to look at a car for my girlfriend, a 64 catalina with a 389. its not bad. i cant wait till i get my 1/4 mile times, just have to find a good place to go fast and not get arrested:eek2:
good deal... well.. you know the faster you go the less time your going fast if you only need to go 1/4 of a mile .... nate
