I've seen a few full chrome cars too. How the hell you'd drive one on a sunny day is beyond me. I have seen some wrapped bumpers and you'd never know if the guy didn't tell you about it. Works great for fiberglass bumpers too....I'm sure some guys on here have seen some and not realized it. Becoming pretty popular in the pro touring world with 'glass.
Yeh it would blind me going by, not sure how the hell he drove it with the sun reflecting off the hood into his eyes??
Picked up my 3 Rusty Davenport N25 replated conversions this weekend from Sandy.Very happy with the jobs.Took about 5 months and cost $750 each not bad considering Tricity , Bumber boys etc are quoting over $1400 each.Nice Shiney and he got the dents out .Will sending some more
They do it all in house .Sandy real name Sandor old school Hungarian tradesman told me lot of so called chrome joints send him all there work and play it off like they did it adding $100 's to the price.I saw 3 buick bumpers ready to go in the tank while there
I think I read somewhere that a few of the other chromers send him their stuff. Those look great and the prices aren't bad, all things considered.
I think 2 of those bumpers ready for the tank you saw were probably mine. Took the my 2 69 GS bumpers there in Jan. not the best of neighborhoods, Sandy said it was much nicer when they moved there in the 60s from Cleveland.
Wow, I haven't been in there in years, and it still looks the same. I'm surprised Sandy is still around. His son Tony was there the last time I had something plated (wheels) and we played softball together for a while too. Yeah, the neighborhood is getting a little rough.
Sandy's did a lot of everyday work - back in the day, bumpers on everyday driver's that were in collisions were repaired and replaced when possible.
Seems most plating shops are in questionable neighborhoods. I bet cause the rent is cheap and OSHA, and EPA don’t pay them much mind.
If anyone in the Mid-Atlantic region is interested, maybe a run up to Sandy's sometime before fall would be worthwhile if we could get enough bumpers together. There's also a place in York, PA that was recommended & I've been meaning to check into but not sure if they do it in house.
If you'll be going to Beaver Springs & we can put something together that might work out. Friend/board member is going to Pittsburgh this weekend & I think his truck is empty coming back - Maybe too short of notice? Let's see what can get together & make the trip worthwhile. I need at least 2 & if I can swing the $, might get 4 done.
He does require 30% deposit or at least he did with me...maybe it's negotiable?? Plus tax but I own car business so no issue with me and 3% with credit-card payments
He's still doing them. I'm going to see him at the Nationals. I'm hoping to get bumpers to Sandy's before their prices jump as dramatically as the others.
