A friend of mine has a very nice '71 GS convertible, that has nicely rechromed headlight bezels, which he said cost 300 apiece, done by "Finishing Touch" in Chicago. Thinking that wasn't a bad deal for street chrome, I sent my '66 fender vents, which are decent with no pitting on the shiny surfaces for an estimate, making it clear that I want nice, but not perfect chrome. Perfect chrome is wrong on a "correct" car, unless it's an older Caddie, anyway. Well, talk about an eye opener. They sent an estimate of 972.30 for the vents. They also charge a 5% of estimated cost fee if you have a heart attack and choose to find a more reasonable way to get it done. Sooo....I either pay them 48.00 to get my parts back, or bend over and take it like a camel. I guess if I wanted perfect, I wouldn't mind the cost, but I DON'T want "show chrome." I want assembly line chrome. Who do I send my potmetal parts to? Dan
they happen to be 5-6 blocks away from me....I have asked for a price on a small item and was $hocked of price as well...but I have heard that there work is prime
I use this place with great results and they are very very reasonable. Allied Metal Finishing LLC 379 Chapel Road South Windsor, CT 06074 860-290-8865 its been a few years, but for reference, I had a 70 console top plate rechromed and it cost me 150.00 and was done in a few weeks. It looked fantastic. Give them a call, I highly recomend them. . I've had plently of chrome shop nightmares, some places just plain suck! Bob
Hang on.... You ship them your parts for an estimate and they want $48.00 before they'll ship them back? Did they mention this before you sent your parts? I can understand if they want you to pay for shipping, even add a little for packaging but $48.00 sounds way too high for that. If you walked in would they charge you before they gave your parts back? I'd ask Rex362 to stop by and pick them up. Pay him to ship them back to you. I bet you could give him some extra for his time and still come in under $48. Let us know how they justify the $48. Thanks, John
