    Hi Guys.
I am getting closer and closer to assembling a 455 to drop in my 66' Skylark. I have been messing around with this off and on for several years but other projects keep getting in the way of mine. I am really hopping to get this assembled and in the car this summer. The engine is a a low budget 70' SF 455. It will have all the oiling mods and I will be reusing the stock 70' pistons and rods. The bore is low wear with almost no taper. The crank is standard and just had a polish. The 70' heads are ported with Stage 1 valves. I have a Performer intake as well as an SP1 intake I can use. I will reuse the long tube headers in the car already. I have several cams I have collected from others left over parts. Some were picked up individually some in some parts lots. My plan for this engine was to use the TA C113 cam I have. It seems like a good fit for what I want to do. I also have a TA 290-94H, a TA 416 (TA 413 on a 116 lobe center), a TA 510 and a Lunati Voodoo 227/233. I also have a 430 sitting ready to assemble that I was going to use the TA290-94H on but to me that seems like the next best cam option. One question I have on using the 113 is the cam card recommends installing it straight up. I had originally planned on 4 degree advance if possible. I only have a 3 keyway timing chain to use in this build so my hands may be a little tied on the amount of advance to degree in. The heads have been cleaned up on the deck surface and the block has as well. It looks like the pistons will be .020" in the hole. I just measured the pistons and head chambers. The pistons are 22cc and the heads ended up being 68.5cc. I have Cometic .027" head gaskets as well as Fel Pro .041" gaskets. I couldn't use the dynamic compression calculator that Larry usually recommends as I am a MacBook user and that program is for PCs. I was originally using a online calculator that used .050" intake closing numbers for calculations and my dynamic ratios were getting into the mid 8:1 range which was concerning. I later found a good online compression calculator to use that had more accurate inputs. https://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/calculator/ My combo with the .027" gaskets and installing the C113 straight up is showing a 7.36:1 Dynamic which should work nice. If I advance it then a bit higher. Should I stick to the TA C113?

The 430 I am assembling has small valve heads. The pistons are 15cc dish and the heads also CCed out to 68.5cc. I was going to use the .041 Fel pro gaskets on it. I calculated it out with the TA290-94H.

Both the 430 and the 455 will have pretty high dynamic if I use this Lunati 68002. I don't really want the dynamic up to 8.12:1.

I vote the 113....that cam just plain works especially in stock piston applications....I installed the last one I put in 4°advanced....with headers..b4b...and home ported big valve heads it went 12.40s first time out at 106mph...BUT it was pretty damn violent down low and would lay heavy dark lines at will for as long as you wanted to feather it ......I laid 295/50 Cooper cobras almost to the 1/8 in BG ....revs quick

113 run about same ET as 118 but much more lope sound if that is what you are after. 118 sound mild by comparison but it actually make more power up top. 113 is more concentrated 3500 to 5500. 118 more like 3000-6000.
    Just my thoughts...have run both.....

Exactly what I am looking for. Has to have some lope to it for Friday night cruise ins, burn outs for fun and be able to make a decent pass at the street legal drag nights.

Yea, but I don't have a 118 so the choice is easy. That is where the 416 fits in. That one I am planning for a future build.

Should I run the C113 with the TA SP1 or the Edelbrock Performer and maybe a spacer?

I would use the 290 (you have headers so don't need a huge split in duration). If you have a mild converter and mild gears, I would use the performer.

Either....on that combo you would have a hard time seeing a difference
