wheres a good site/book for this. Im trying to find out if i can put a 383 kit in a buick 350. Is it possible? or are the cranks too different? Is this a pipe dream here?
To the best of my knowledge the only chebby parts that fit a Buick are the dist. cap and rotor and possibly the oil drain plug.
No, you cannot put a 383 (chevy) kit into your Buick 350. These are 2 totally different engines. There is very little ,if any room to stroke the 350 Buick, it already has a 3.85 inch stroke, which is way up from what the original configuration of the block started out with of I believe 3.2 inches in the 215. well no 383 huh? thats ok i guess. What are some mild performance things I can do to the engine? I plan on it being just a sunday cruiser, nothing fancy. I do want to know if chevy 350 cams fit in my buick, or if those are different too, if so, where can I find some (performance oriented) I have a hard time finding parts for my skylark. edit-- I have the whole block taken apart already, and ill probably hot-tank it tommorow.
Cams won't swap either. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a good cam, many vendors make 'em. Postons, TA, CompCams. I'm probably forgetting a few.

Don't forget about the PCV valve!!! I thought the starters were the same too. Oh wait...I forgot that Chevy had two different starters for their smallblocks. What's the world coming too!!
