In September, me and my son [ 11 years old ] went to our annual Pumpkin fest. car show in our small town in Michigan. We know the guys that put the show on and help fill a spot for support. By know means is our car a show car, but a 20 footer, 72 Buick Skylark street - strip car, lots of fun. Now to the good part: As we left our house on a beautiful sunny saturday morning, we turned left at the first traffic light heading into town on a devided 4 lane road. When we looked to our right was a nice RED 70 chevelle setting at the light going are way. It had on a nice set of big & little super-lites and what look like drag-radials. I thought this could be interesting, I was right. By the way, our car has a race look with big & little drag-lites, and ET-streets and cowl hood, flow masters, a little loud. As I drive on minding my own business, we look back behind us, and this guy is cutting traffic like a INDYcar-driver, trying to catch us, he did. For a half a mile, this guy rode right be side us goosin it and grinning. My son finally looked at me and said, are you going to show him what it can do, with a big grin, and I said well let's play. We both slow down into first gear like a choreographed dance show, I give him the jump, the buick launches hard, I hit the REV-limiter [oops at 6000], grab 2nd and walk by him, race over. My vanity plate reads; CYA L8R ouch! Now I'm doing the grinning and my son said that did'nt take long, like I figured. He pulls off at the gas station and we go on to the car show. Well; 15 mins. later, to our surprise, this guy pulls into the car show and I think, will he talk or just ignore it all happen, He talked. He said; hey what kind of motor do you havein that buick, ME; its a buick 455 0:30 over. HIM: I've never seen a BUICK move that fast, and I think my trans was slipping anyway,[ he had a 454 in the 'velle, sounded very healthy]. HIM; { puzzeled look},how fast is this car, compression, pump gas, what gear, size carb. ME; 11:60's, 11:1-1, pump-gas 93, 3:73, custom 980 holley. HIM; WOW, nice car and you drive it on the street. ME: yeah, just on sunny days. WHAT A WAY TO START THE DAY!!! :Brow:
Thats a GREAT story! Way to go! and it's good to see that some people can still accept losing to a Buick!
I love it! :beer There's only two things in life that are guaranteed.........paying taxes, and finding at least one or two Chevelles in every car show!

Cool - looks like you got to race one of the rare "car guys." You know, the one's who aren't in it for the ego - they just like to play, regardless of outcome.
Come on Truzi. Thats Bullshit!!! :eek2: That guy thought there would be no way possible that a Buick could eat him up!!:Brow: Just another arogant Chevy Looser.:spank: BTW I also own Chevy products!!!shhh.:spank:
