lennar, i didnt use anything to mount it to the car. i simply cut the wooden panels so that way they will fit snug when i put them in. the reason for this is because after i apply the batting material and the vinyl, the panel should mount pretty tight against the the bottom and top of the trunk, hence not needing anything to mount it to the car! i had the exact same thinking as you before i started the project. i always asked myself, if i build it, how and what will i use/do to keep it standing upright? so i did exactly what i just mentioned to do, measure the hieghts and lengths twice, then if they need to, sand off the edges so that they fit snuggly and firm. if you still are having trouble on how to do it, let me know so that way i can make a vid, post it on youtube and show exactly what im talking about. thanks

Well I thought I give this a try since I had a some free time.It really cleaned up my trunk area. Thanks for posting this idea,I think it came out good.I might have over done it with the emblems, but what the hey they didn't go to waste. All the panels fit snug and are removable so I can still keep tools behind the rear panel.

I can't do that . I can't get enough junk out of the trunk to put the trim in place .

Hey Tom (tt445), that is great! looks awsome! Im glad that you were able to make a very clean custom trunk enclosure. This is the reason why i wanted to post this, so that I can help people do things themselves! the best thing is, now that you know how to make it, you can always change the design, the fabric, add plexiglass, etc. the skys the limit! this makes me feel so good to know that i was able to help you out. i encourage more people to try it, it really doesnt take that long to do. and the materials are really inexpensive! Overall Tom, I want to say good job and keep up the good work.

Hey thanks Johnny.I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Thanks again for posting the idea.I got my buddy doing his 69 Charger now. When he saw mine he flipped and asked me how I did it,and you'd be pleased to know that I gave you credit for the idea.:TU:

Now you see, this post is like a gift that keeps on giving. when your buddy is done with his, post some pics. these pics give other members and non-members ideas to build their own enclosures! as far as credit, the next person you show and give an inspiration to build their own, tell them you thought of it yourself (wink with the thumbs up), they might buy you a beer for giving them the idea. haha...GOODTIMES TOM

Yeah it would be a shame to have to take out the keg, cups, and the mini bar..but I'm sure you could work it all into the design..:bla: I'm gathering all the supplies to do mine. Took all the trunk boards out, and will use those as a template. I might wait until I get it back from paint and body to work on this project though. That way I can measure and re-measure as I do it. Tom thanks for the info on putting the emblems on.

How did you attach the panels to the car? I assume that you didn't achor them with screws into the body right?

    tt455 T Bone

Right,no screws in the body.I used cardboard for templates, and then cut the plywood to the size. With the batting and vinyl it fit snug on the sides and back. The two pieces by the trunk latch are secured with L brackets to the plywood floor with the carpet covering it.You could use L brackets for the sides and back if they came out to loose by running them behind and under the panels to the top of the 2ft x 4ft 5/8" plywood floor.Mine fit snug so if I need to take them out I would just have to push the bottom of the panels in and then pull them out from the top.
