I was checking all my credit card balances late lastnight and to my surprise there was a charge for $29.99 which I never placed. It was by a company called Pluto Data. I don't know if it's related to the recent breach in the Choice Point information theft, but it may be connected. Just to make sure, everyone should check their statements if you aren't in the habit of doing so. Just thought I'd pass it along. Here's a link that describes some of it in more depth. http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/60769
I just went through mine and I have a lot of charges from TA Performance Year One Inc. Paypal Buick Dealerships And they're all for a lot of money, maybe I can ask my bank for the $$ back? uzzled: Weird huh? Anyone else have the same charges?
Mine includes a lot of auto parts places and Home Depot and Lowe's!!!! :eek2: Okay, I want to know what MAN has been using my credit card!
Change of subject, what's the deal with your avatar car? It looks great, any details you want to share about it? Other pics?
If you're referring to mine. It's a 1970 Sport Wagon. I recently purchased it from a friend of Jim Lore's(flyinbuick) from North Carolina. It's got a 455, 3 inch exhaust all the way to the back. Custom brown, tweed interior. It's been all gone through. Really great car. I'm gonna post some pics here in another section.
Yep, that's the one. I really like the wagons, they seem to be harder to find than other Skylarks. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics. Take good care of that one!
I think they all ended up being used as demolition derby cars. Like most wagons did. I wasn't exactly looking for a wagon, but I fell in love with it when I saw the pictures. I couldn't resist. :Brow: :beer
I also just received a notice from Bank of America stating that several backup tapes were missing. They sent notices out to everyone so they could have a heads up.
At least they're on top of things. MBNA sure wasn't! :af: That's who they got the bogus charge through on one of my credit cards as of Feb. 26. I didn't even use the card since Jan. and don't have any recurring bills on that account either. I had them send me a new card and close 3 of my other accounts I haven't used in the last few months. The thing that gripes me the most is the fact it takes 30-45 days for them to take a disputed charge off your account after reporting it, but the criminals get away with the money way before the fact. It's like honest people have to fight to protect their good name. :spank:
Bogus charges aren't bad, at least you can get them reversed. If you get your identity stolen, that's really bad!
My girlfriend was charged with 1.000$ from a home depot in NY. ehh.. We live in L.A. Someone had stolen her identity and tried to get 10.000$ credit at the store in N.Y. but could only get 1.000$ cause they didn't have the right address. They never checked for an Id or anything, the employee signed for it.. It's their mess to sort out, but this does happen. She's now on some list if other stuff would show up. Home depot swallowed the $ cost, but since the amount is so low the police won't do anything.. How about a 50 cal. shot from 300 hundred yards straight through the head.. I'll pull....
Sorry about the last line on the previous post, I just get so pissed off when people do stuff like that... AAAAAAaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
I don't blame you for feeling that way. We'd save a lot of money on the taxpayers part if we did more of a swift justice system such as that. We live in a rural part of Iowa, but close enough to the city to have thieves come out and rob houses when people are at work. Seems like when they do get caught, they get a little jail time and a slap on the wrists, then they're set free. :af:
