Hey all, my wife just got her new 71 Riviera. Its a 2 owner car, never restored, but in pretty good condition. The reason of the subject I chose is that this car was bought in Champaign Ill. when it was new. I didnt find the dealer in the white pages and it seems it doesnt exist anymore. But this dealer put a chrome emblem on the trunk lid which says: Service Buick (trishield) Champaign-Urbana Ill. When we bought the car the S and the C were missing, and now I try to get a better and complete emblem. Maybe there is someone from this area in this forum and can have a look at junk yards in this area. That would be very nice. Thank you very much Juergen S
in 1968 there was a dealership with this address, Service Buick Co. 301-305 S. Neil St. Champaign Il. 61820 HTH , henry
I believe the same dealership exists, only under the Worden-Martin name. Bought a whole bunch of parts for the GS there during college.
Worden-Martin Inc Buick Pontiac GMC 100 Carriage Center Ct Champaign, IL 61820 (217) 352-7901 Found it on Google. Good Luck. Carriage Center Ct is right off of South Neil Street in Champaign, Illinios.
Juergen, I live in Champaign, Illinois and could help you out. One of my best friends went to high school with the Service Buick owners son. The Dealership closed around 1983. He wasn't seen this guy for a while and isn't sure he is still in the area but I will have him check. Worden-Martin bought out Service Buick and a guy I know works there. I will check with him the next time I see him. My 72 GS was originally purchased from Service Buick. I've been trying to locate pictures of this dealership and any other items I could find. My friend has been unable to locate the son of the owner so far. I will keep you posted. Tom Jenkins TomGS72@aol.com
Ok, heres how far I am now. I called Macks Auto Recycling, but they dont have anything that old. Then I tried Worden-Martin. The owners wife spoke to me and she told me Worden Martin is a different dealer than Service Buick. That is not the same! But she knew the old owner of Service Buick and gave me his name. Looked in the phone book and gave me his number. I called him, and he had the same name, be he told me he was not the owner of Service Buick. Well, lets get back to where I started. The funniest thing is, that I can call Illinois for free!! And I live in Germany! Wow. That was great. All thee phone calls have been for free. Jrgen
