Time to rebuild this thread that was lost back in the "Hacking of '04"... Is the rear window reveal trim on a LeSabre and a Centurion the same? Specifically, would the trim off a '71 LeSabre 2-door fit a '73 Centurion 2-door? Garybuick needs some, and I found some on a '71 Impala. (The ones without the goofy reversed rear window are the same bodies as LeSabres.)
Yes. The trim off a '71 LeSabre 2-door would fit a '73 Centurion 2-door. But, the trim off a '71 LeSabre 2-door would not fit a '71 or '72 Centurion 2-door. The reason is that the unique Formal Coupe rear window treatment was used only on the '71 and '72 Centurions; '73 Centurions lost the Formal Coupe, and used the same rear window as the LeSabres.
Great! Now, anybody got a picture of that "unique Formal Coupe rear window treatment"? Here's a couple of shots of the LeSabre rear window for '71 2-doors. Note the trunk lid louvers, unique to '71.
Just for comparison, here's the same shots of a '71 Impala...same rear window and trim, different louvers: Ch*vy = 16 longer ones, Buick = 24 shorter ones.
Early Production Cars had more louvres Jamyers, be aware that the early production '71 LeSabres and Centurions had more louvres than your car. Very early LeSabre and Centurion cars had 54 louvres, as does my car (body no. 00125 from Southgate). The Centurion Formal Coupes had a standard vinyl roof and a smaller rear window than LeSabres. The window trim was partially grained and painted the same color as the vinyl roof, and the trim closest to the window was bright. The molding that surrounded the vinyl roof around the C pillar was grained and painted the same color as the vinyl roof. Here's the rear of my car:
Yes, I think it's 4 rows of 4 on each side (or is it 4 rows of 3?). I'm losing my mind today... 54 louvers on the trunk...now THAT's something to look for!
