    Can anyone give me a hand identifying the proper year/model for these center caps? The retaining clips in the back would fit a 2" opening in the wheel. There is also a rear 1/4 emblem for a '68 lark in the photo, but I don't think the center caps are for a '68. Any help would be appreciated.

    Bruce,
    With that 2" mounting hole diameter, I'm thinking earlier than that.

    Doug,
    Is the overall diameter about 4 & 1/2"?
    Are the centers plastic?
    Do they have a part # on the inside?
    Maybe those came on the '60's big cars with the road wheels other than the obvious "R" used on the Rivi's and the elusive cat's head for the Wildcats (that I'm still on the hunt for more of).
    I'm thinking '65 or '66 Electra and/ or LeSabre. :puzzled:

    Doug ,Now I have to say I can't remember . Are the center caps knock on type for the road wheels or are they the thin type of center caps ? Not that it will make a lot of difference at this point,but it will help all of us to fiqure it out . Hard to tell in photo.Take care Doug :TU: :confused:

    Bruce;
    Here is a picture of the back side of those center caps. The overall diameter is a little less than 3" (I'd measure but there at home and I'm in the office). There in pretty good shape and if you say you think the one emblem is from a similar year lesabre, that might make sense. Although the guy I got them from said they were from a 60's model skylark (wasn't specific to year)

    Robert;
    These caps are not correct for my 67 Electra with ralleys, they used the turbine style center cap, same as Riv's with a different inset. That is correct up until 1970. Although, these ones would just clip in to my ralleys. They are metal backed and have a thin chrome edge to it that wouldn't overlap the center of the wheel similar to the usual '70's style center cap. I'm not sure what the mid-60's lesabres used or if it is different than my electra.

    Bruce;
    They are thin, probably 1/8" thick at the edge (with the middle tri-shield slightly inset) and would just pop into the center hole of the wheel. In the picture of the back, the retaining clips are set to fit into a 2" hole, which should give you an idea of the overall diameter.

    Thanx Doug ! That is what i thought the first time. But i don't know what they fit . I had 4 from the local boneyard , but sold them on ebay ! My best guess is Buicks spoked hub cap but i do not remember what year.The other tri-shield , if black stick-em is on the rear , it would go on a 70's roof panel .Hope this helps! Sooner or later ,we'll get it !:eek2: :TU: 1980'S SPOKED CENTER CAPS ........................HMMMM ?

    Definately NOT '65

    Doug,
    After seeing the backside I can see now that my geuss was way off. :rolleyes:
    The 65's used a smaller cap than the "turbine" style.
    I think that those first started in '66.
    Here's a picture of a '65 cap.

    Thanks Robert;
    Yah, you can see how the caps don't have the overlapping part that slides over the center of the wheel. I'm thinking that Bruce may be right and they fit into a late 70's wire wheel or hubcap. Thanks for your input:beer
