I really admired a member's pic of a small CD player mounted inside an 8-track player case. Considering this for my own car. I have a working player in the car now, but also a non-working player as a donor.
I would like to retain the stock radio.
Will a new CD player work on the 10 ohm speakers?
I have a NOS speaker in the dash & one at the rear deck.

To get the max. efficiency out of the out final amp of the CD you match the output impedance of the CD to the Thevenin equivalent of the load ---in this case the speakers. So if the output impedance to the CD was 10 ohms then you would want the load to appear to be 10 ohms. If the load was 5 ohms you would make it look like 10 ohms through an impedance matching ( 2 to 1) transformer. You often see these attached to speakers and that is their function.

    Jim,
Looks like I can set up the speakers for either/or, but not both?
The CD will likely have a tuner in it, maybe this will work.
