Setting: peaceful neighborhood with an occasional burglary. House had the front doors locked, back patio doors unlocked, three cars out front, no alarm system. I was asleep in bed with the bedroom door closed, wife out on the couch falling asleep to the TV.

I wake up to the wife screaming bloody murder at about 4:00 AM, sprint out the bedroom door thinking one of the kids had died in her sleep. See some dude stumbling out the back door, chase him down, tackle his ass, and hold him there til the cops and the neighbors arrive. Wife called 911 while alternately crying and screaming at the perp.

Turns out the wife woke up with him standing next to her with his junk out, jumped up and started screaming, whereupon he tried to run. Struggling with his pants slowed him down enough for me to tackle his ass. he was also either drunk or high, so he gave up quickly.

Freaky part: we know the guy -- didn't realize it until he stood up for the cops. Guy manages the rental equipment store 1/2 a mile away and sees my wife every month or so and sees me every three months or so. Friendly dude, no creepy vibe or anything. talk cars with him too -- he used to own a 455 GS.

Knows our address from the store plus his parents used to live on our street. He parked his car at their new place 1/2 a mile away and walked over. He is very familiar with the neighborhood and knows that I am out of town four or five nights a week. Guess he picked the wrong night.

If I had seen his face (I was on top of his back and restraining his arms --he's about 5'-8 160 lbs, I'm 6'-4 / 255 lbs of chiseled fat) and recognized him, I would have beat the **** out of him. But I didn't know who it was, so I just held him down and didn't aggravate the situation -- he had pretty well surrendered and I was okay with the stalemate.

Wife is freaked, needless to say. Alarm system gets fixed / updated tomorrow. Kids were scared but seem okay.

On the plus side, wife says she must now officially be considered a milf.

Wow, I'm glad it all worked without anyone getting hurt. But the trauma of being invaded will stay with you for quite a while. We were robbed twice and broken into once but he left because of the new alarm installed.
Good to hear it all worked out.
Sad to say you can't trust anyone anymore.

Good GOD! Thank goodness everyone's O.K. We lock the doors even during the day, after there was a spate of Children being snatched from home's. One was snatched out of the bath!! She was found in England still naked! Dont bear thinking about.

When I saw the title I thought it was going to be a post with content other than (it actually happened).

I'm glad everyone is OK at least physically. I hope your wife will be able to get over it mentally. Sometimes those things haunt people for a long time.

I could not have used the restraint that you did when catching up to the guy.

Hey, so far three cops have made offers on my GN!

Yeah, I showed restraint just because I had things under conrol and didn't want to take any risks. Guy was out of it -- I didn't want to bring out a PCP-fueled monster, or have it turn out that he had a gun or a knife in his pocket. So i just squished him and held on til help came.

    Steve you are my idol!!!

What's the moral? Alarm yourself no matter where you live.

    Glad you are all ok.

Glad it worked out well. You did good Pal, showed real restraint, yet took the proper action. Now along with that alarm getting fixed a dog would be a welcome alarm too, doesn't have to be a vicious thing, all it needs to do is start barking like crazy when it hears things outside.

    WOW!

Glad everyone was safe and it worked out for you. If there have been any other issues like this in your area maybe the cops can track them back to this guy through the rental place that he works at and put this guy away for a while.

Another scary thing is that the wife thinks that she hasn't been in his store in at least 3 months. So the guy has been thinking about this for a long time.

Just found what I think is his truck parked down the street. Enough said.

GLad to hear no one was hurt. You are obviously cool under fire which is a comendable trait...I cant say for sure that I would have been in that situation.

Wow that guy has some balls-no pun intended- doing that s$$t,i wouldn't been able to restrain myself either, i'm glad you were home who knows what could have happened if you weren't.Along with the alarm fixing maybe some self defense classes for the wife and the kids too for good measure. I'm glad you all are ok:TU:

Good job on the fast thinking, sounds like your old lady is taking it well too. You may be smarter than me for keeping the situation under control, I would have beat him (or worse) close to death. Keep us posted as things progress. I live in a semi-shady neighborhood and my wife witnessed a murder across the park from our front door. Now she don't sleep and I can't sell my house to get here somewhere safe thanks to this awsome housing market slump. Kudos for sure on keeping your end of the bargain, that is keeping her safe. This beer is on me.:beer

Glad she's okay! Probably in a drunken or drugged up state of mind. People like that will do anything anytime!

Good to see that everything turned out on the good side. I personally would have beat the living hell out of him. Never know what someone has on their mind. I work around these types (County Jail), and its where they belong. Sometimes the cuffs go on just a little tighter....
