What is this bellhousing for. the casting # 9774035. will it fit my 68 skylark with a 455. o No: o No:
Looks like 9774035 is a bellhousing that fits intermediate-size 64-67 Buicks, standard transmission, all smallblocks. For some reason the big block bellhousing is a different part number - 1373726, and for '68-'73 a third number, 9785581...so I'd have to question using 9774035 on your 455. o No: Maybe a starter placement issue, or clearance issue with larger clutch diameters? I have the 9774035 bellhousing on my 65 with the 300. It's a Buick only housing, not BOP. I was told by the seller a few years back that it will fit big blocks ,too, but I would investigate further. The bolt pattern is the same but I would check to see if an 11" flywheel would clear the housing. Starter location should be OK.
