I cannot find a replacement carburetor for my 1960 Lesabre. It is a carter WGD 2980S. Does anyone know of a good web site or rebuilder/refurbisher? Does Carter still exist? Certainly NOS is out of the question???? Thanks
i just did a quick internet search ( yahoo ) and some info came up . i checked my old hygrade book - no info ? i'll check my carter book when i get home , at work now . edit - carter book : looks like its listed as a S2 (2bbl) , buick 4400 series , auto (DF?) , 1957-1960 . takes a 30-152 filter , and a notation "1/4" choke tube , cut to length" . other oem numbers that may be on carb - 7-106 (A-B-C ) , 7-109 ( A-B ) , 7-112A , 7-113A . also carb number 2838 could have been the factory number , 2980 was listed as one of the possible service numbers . that's all I could decipher from the book info . NOS carb ? maybe but good luck .
thanks for the response DMC. My installed ( probably original) Carter WGD 2bbl crapped out on me the other day. Gasoline was pouring from the " vent line" ( I call it a weep hole) at the top of the float chamber. Everyone at work said its probably a stuck float. So I bought the rebuild kit and "went for it". Bad idea. Now I'm looking for a "new" carb ready to install. Grrrr
