Are these any good ? I think it is the same pump Torque Tech used to call the Stage 2. Was looking for a mechanical pump for the convertible high 11 low 12 will it hang ? I want to get rid of the loud electric if at all possible.
I don't know that the carter pump is still available... Jegs lists a 80 GPH mech Mr. Gasket brand pump for BBB though.. I've got one sitting in the garage but have not gotten a chance to install it yet. Cost is less than $60 so not too bad... regards
There was one on Ebay new in the box that I bid on, the auction never met the reserve now I got and Email from the seller offering it to me for $35 plus shipping. If I remember right Torque Tech's price was like $99
carter fuel pump Todd if you can still get it for the $35 I'd jump on it if only for a spare. I've had the carter strip pump on my 350 for about 5 or 6 years now and its a great little fuel pump. Only gripe is the non stock inlet and outlets on it. I'm sure the big block pump is good too. I paid $55 for mine from jegs way back when.:Comp:
Todd, I just went through this. Stg 1 pump was dropping down below 5 lbs. at WOT and I was getting hesitation on hot days. Replaced it, but at WOT it was still dropping to just over 5 lbs. Searched for an upgrade and the Mr. Gasket was the only option. I was told it's a chromed STG 1, not an improvement. Finally mounted a Malory 110 above the axle, bolted up into the trunk. The noise isn't bad at all. I can hear it if I'm listening for it, otherwise I never notice it. With the 110 pushing the mechanical, my problem disappeared. Good luck.
does anyone know if converting a bb chevy pump arm will work? Cool idea if I can take my buick pump arm and replace the short chevy arm.:Brow: Hi Jack! I've got the holley blue mounted on my car pushing fuel through the factory lines. I didn't push the stage1 pump because if the diaphram fails your electric pump will fill the crank case with fuel. Probably be OK but if you ever see the fuel pressure drop check the pump/oil pronto.
