Hi all, I am quite new to your board and i have a question regarding my wifes' car. We just bought it with ZZ1 chevy 350 and a Carter 750 AFB carb. It seems to be running rich, I can smell unburned gas, Serious bog from 1500 to 3000 rpm and its idle is uneven. Any recommedations on what do with it. I need to learm how to tune carbs, any good books I can buy. I would like to get her car fixed so I can get back to work on my GS.

This is free, and has about as much info as the one and only Carter carb book:

The book mentioned earlier is Super Tuning and Modifying Carter Carburetors by Dave Emanuel, ISBN 0-931472-11-3.

Edelbrock's website has their version of the AFB's manual on-line as well, the Edelbrock 1407 is the same as a Carter 9755. Both made by Weber.

I suggest you check for float levels set too high. Carter had a problem with this a few years back. I've opened over a hundred of them, and a large percentage were way off. Happy motoring, Frank:beer

SELL IT AND BUY A HOLLEY

The older ones have a weak idle circuit and do not idle that well with much of a cam.Chris
