Hi,i want to replace my carb base gasket on my `66 GS,my question is 1:where can i purchase one 2: do they require the steel plate on the base as the `67 GSs had? Thanks
Another plug for Carmen Faso. yes need the steel part. Faso has them, 716 693 4090 How is the radiator/heat thing going? You figure that out yet? My 70 has some problems like that. dang annoying doing all the right things and still having the car heat up on you!
Thanks for the info Ted,as for the cooling,it seems to be running alot better ever since i changed to the Flowkooler waterpump,i`ve also ordered a 4 core which is suppost to be coming in this week from what they told me,so i am selling a Be Cool Aluminum radiator for 65-66 skylark gs`s in brand new shape, still in its box,if you know anyone interested let me know, what set up are you running in your car and its running hot? Thanks
70 stage 1 is totally stock, only thing I did not test is the thermostat. I have to work on that some more. My wagon is a 455 built up a little, I used the v-6 radiator tanks and a "D" core 3 rows, 3/8th centers and it cools great. 3 core flows air through the fins a little better than a 4-core.
Carb Gasket....yes, it should have a thin stainless steel plate. Did you try local auto parts stores? Fel-pro list pn 9803, but dunno if it comes with the steel plate.... I tapped the holes in my intake and installed threaded plugs to close off those passages....They are often plugged with carbon deposits from normal use anyway.... My '66 Special runs hot too! I even installed a 4 row radiator....It doesn't make sense....
Thanks Walt,i ordered the stuff from Carmen this evening,i`m waiting for the 4 core should be in this week,so far with the Flowkooler she`s running alot better,i need to sell the Be Cool Radiator if you know of anyone interested. Thanks
the steel gasket goes first then the gasket and then the carb sits on top of that?or gasket then steel plate then carb? Thanks
Same thing for a Do I have to do the same thing for my 66 401?.....I am putting an Edlebrock 750 cfm on ito No: There wasn't one there when I took off the Carter, It just had the gasket and that was it.....uzzled: I did not see anything in the Manual about the steel plate!:error: Don
Re: Same thing for a I don't know why it's not in the manuals, but it isn't.........back in the horse and buggy days when my Buick was only 10 years old, I didn't know about the shims until I got a rebuilt carb with one included in the box. I'll bet there's a service bulliten out there somewhere that indicates the information about this.:bglasses:
