I have picked up a Nailhead dual quad manifold that only has the secondary 3645 carburetor (with no choke) and would like know what Carter AFB carburetor models should I look for that will have the correct CFM, linkage set up, bolt mounting pattern, fuel inlet port and choke ? If I am correct it should be a 625 CFM carburetor. I also understand the 3646 or 3925 might be correct but what is the difference between these two and would any one here have a carburetor for sale ?

This dual quad set up is for my project 1962 Buick Super Stock so the parts do no have to be mint or pristine ...... just work.

    Thanks for any help.

3646 is '64. 3925 is '65-'66. Linkage for auto trans switch is different but can be used with manual no problem. I have a '64 on the shelf and '65 on the car if you need some pics for reference. Couple guys have DQ converted '62s here too that I'm sure will chime in with info. Scott

    Thanks Scott.
A few pictures would be a great help . I guess I should post a picture of the switch/bracket and manifold that will be used to identify the year being used.

What trans are you running? Kickdown switches and brackets are totally different 64 to 65-66 if you are using an ST400 SP.

    Warren,

I have installed a 1965 SP 400 with the 2 wire connector, the manifold has this switch with mounting bracket.

Not sure if there was supposed to be a picture attached - Just make sure you have the right switch for the right year dual quad set up. 64 has a "wheel" that controls the kick down and the switch bracket is different. Scott has the 65-66 set up on his so you should be able to tell by the pictures he sends to you which one you have.

What is the model of your 62?

    Warren,

My Buick is a Electra 225 that is non air conditioned. This 225 was not a good candidate for a restoration due to many "jack leg" repairs that have been done so it is being built as a what a 1962 Super Stock drag car would have looked like if Buick had built one. The exhaust has Sanderson headers, 40 series Flowmasters and 2 1/2 pipes (cut outs will be installed soon). For the SP 400 a 2.75 ratio first gear was installed along with clutch packs that will handle 600 hp. A vintage B & M series 60 with chrome cover box and hologram shift knob works the gears. (a pair of correct bucket seats were installed to make room to mount the shifter) I found vintage Stewart Warner Deluxe 2 5/8 vacuum, 150 psi oil and water temp gauges long with a 8,000 tach with chrome cup. On the garage floor are a set of NOS NMW ladder bars that will be installed and a first series B & M trans temp gauge is at gauge repair shop in Michigan.
The engine will get a high performance cam, internal parts balanced in general a rebuild along with the dual quads.

John, maybe you have a #4059 carb? That's correct for a GS 401 with Calif emissions.
There's a listing of the AFB carb numbers here:
    www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?98044-Carter-AFB-carburetors-assigned-to-Buick

The 2x4 carbs have different linkage. You can make other carbs work tho.
I presently have aftermarket AFB's on my blue car with Mr Gasket linkage.
Do you have original carbs for the 2x4 manifold?

Bill, a standard 1x4 carb will work for the rear, but lever on the carb would be different.
You can buy repo 2x4 linkage, you can likely adapt it to incorrect carbs.
Aftermarket 2x4 linkage is another option..... Mr Gasket, Offenhauser, EELCO, or just build one from pieces from Grainger/ McMaster Carr...
The S/S build is a cool idea. Just have fun with it!
