    Help
    I went to my local performance shop for a new carb for my 1969
    Skylark and the catologue said I should put a 600 cfm carb on a
    350,but everything I here is to put a 750 on it .Who is right?
    Thanks Curtis

    Years ago I listened to the speed shop and got a 600 or 650 Holley. It didn't pull as hard as the old Q-Jet, and soon I will find another and rebuild it.

    I really don't know the details of why the Buicks like big carbs, but I think it has to do with maximum flow at certain points, not average volumetric efficiency. The 350 may be fine with around 600 on average, but at wide open throttle, it will want more.

    I hope I haven't butchered the explanation too much, but others will answer soon.

    CyberBuick What she used to be....

    350 = 750 or 800 cfm.. Don't let anyone tell you it's a Chivvy that only wants 600cfm.. :af:

    Most of those CFM calculators are 'minimum cfm required'.

    Everyone here, including the speed shop, tells me to put a 750cfm on, even with stock everything else (Except intake)... but I am getting by with the stock 2bbl ... and it is choking itself.
