I am going to be putting a warmed over 455(76 block 72 heads) in my '85 C20 pickup. I have decided to hold on to the 700-4r transmission until it blows up, since it still works good.

However, using the stock intake manifold (EGR) There isn't enough room for the TV cable linkage.

I am using a q-jet carb, so I need to find a spreadbore carb spacer that is at least 1" tall.

Does anyone know where I can find such an item?

    Thanks!!

Hmm there's something I overlooked. I am going to retain EGR for emissions purposes. We just started emissions testing here very recently. Luckily, the laws are quite vague, and as long as I have the proper emissions equipment installed, it will pass. I need to have PCV, EGR, AIR, charcoal canister, catalytic converter, and a fuel inlet restrictor.
There is no mention in the law about the vintage or make of the engine. Our emissions "testing" is administered by independent garages, not by a government facility. This will make it easier to skirt around this emissions mess.

My concern with the Mr. Gasket spacer, is whether or not it would be able to withstand the hot exhaust gases coming up into the intake plenum. There is only a thin piece of metal to deflect the upward traveling exhaust and heat. I guess I'll need to contact Mr. Gasket and see what the temperature rating is on that spacer, unless I can find one made of metal.

    Scott,

Are you looking for a 4 hole or open spacer? I have a couple 1" open spacers (metal) for quadrajets that i bought years ago and never used, they're still in the plastic shrinkwrap. If that's what you're looking for PM me your snail mail address and I'll send one your way. If it will work for what you need you can send me back the postage and a couple bucks extra for some garage beer! :beer
