quick question on an 800 fcm rock carb...Im no pro at carbs but i jsut rebuilt mine, whith help from someone who was good in their days, and the one thing we were both un sure about is the power valve adjustment, i think thats what its called.. Its located on top in the front and theirs an aluminum cap thats we poped off and then ya need that tool to adjust it.. Some one told me what they used to do was back it out about half the distance of the full travel n he never had a prob but he still wasnt sure.. I just want it o be done right. My 455 is slightly modified nothing too crazy, if that matters. Thanks in advance for any tips~Vinny

    Hi Vinny,

Is this cap on the throttle base plate in the front of the carb? If it is then it actually controls how far and at what vacuum the metering rods position themselves. This can also be modified by changing the internal spring. If memory serves me correct you might create more trouble for yourself unless you can find an expert to tune it. Why not try to alter jet and rod sizes since this is easily reversible and might net the results you are looking for. There are also some good books out there on modifing rocky carbs.
