Was wondering are there any pros or cons to running a carb from a 455 on a 350? And what is the diff. between the california carbs. and non california carbs.?

In 70 they were the same CFM size, 750 CFM, so there is no improvement there except for the 7040246 which has an extra squirter. You are not likely to find one. So if you do that change get a 71 to 73 or so as the 455s went to 800 CFM after 70.

As for the Cal issue I would be aware of your particular emissions control laws before I made the change. If that might be an issue just have a performance carb rebuilder go through your existing 750 cfm. A noted Buick carb rebuilder Norm Dihle tested his rebuilds of 750 CFM carbs against his 800 cfm rebuild . No performance gain was seen.

Big Block specific Q-jets have more idle capacity. The 455 engine needs more air at idle than a 350. A BB carb works really well on a 350 with a hot cam. On a Stocker there may be some problems with idle mixtures. The 800 carbs are jetted richer in the primaries because of the larger venturi size.
