I just rebuilt my carb, and now my Regal won't run. It will start, but quickly begins to diesel and die, unless I give it gas. either way, it still dies once I've let off the gas. It has an electronic choke. I think that may be the problem, but I'm not sure. It had so much varnish in it when I started that I had to clean it. I had to let it sit in kerosene over night. I was going to take the choke off, but it was held on by rivets. I can't find another choke around here, so what should I do? Is this problem being caused by the choke sitting in kerosene over night, or something else? All the vacuum lines and electronics were hooked back up properly. Will I have to go to the salvage yard and get another carb until I'm able to buy my new intake/carb, or is there another way?

maybe floats? It sounds like maybe it's either flooding or starving?

You can buy a replacement choke coil at the parts store. You simply drill out the rivets and the replacement comes with screws. It sounds like the motor isn't getting enough gas through the idle system to run. When you give it gas, the accelerator pump shot lets it run. Did you back out the idle needles 2 turns from seated? Is it possible you have a gasket installed wrong( possibly blocking a critical passge)? That's all I can think of right now. Hope that helps.

Make sure the idle screw is not turned out too far.
