Hello all, Im going to harass you guys once again. Thanks to Phil Green (TXGS) I bought the Rochester book though have only had time to skim through her. What I wanted to see is if I could get a hand with the carb secondary rods and hanger selection. My car currently has CT rods with a R hanger holding her in place. Out of my old carb, I have a set of DA rods and a L hanger. The specs are .570 for the L, and .595 for the R hanger (as the H value described in the book). Tips for the DA rods are .0440 at the tip, and the CT rods are .0774. What I have is a 72 Lark, stock motor, with rebuilt heads (no work just a std rebuild), TA intake, TA headers, Flowmaster Exhaust system, and thats about it to deviate it from stock. The two carbs I have, one is a 750 in need of a rebuild, and the other is a 800cfm, which is on the car now (and has been rebuilt). The problem is that the plugs are showing a lean condition, and the car bogs while under acceleration (~60-70% of the throttle). Adjusting the tension of the secondary butterflies (air horn) did not give any noticable results. Thanks. Kevin
Your hangers too lean.. Move up to an H hanger, or if you can't find one, bend your current one to the measurements listed in the book for an H hanger.. Start there as it's easiest..
