    Yes another newbie question...
Just got the '59 Invicta. I am trying to figure out what to do with the carb. First I need to ID it. It is a Carter but that's as far as my limited ability goes. I'm not even sure if it is the original one (see the homemade metal flange on top...and someone sprayed the block with original paint but didn't cover the carb so it has that paint on the bottom of it). Also, any suggestions on what to do:
    Is it worth rebuilding?
Should I just go for a newer one?
What carb goes well on a '59 401?

    Thanks

    Mart

You have a Carter AFB carburetor...a superb design in my humble opinion. Easy to work on and long lasting. It should have the switch for the starter on it. I would suggest you rebuild it. The carb number should be stamped on the front, low on the left (passenger side). Happy motoring! Frank:beer
