So I rebuilt my carb a while back but I didn't soak it over night. Just put the rebuild kit in and cleaned out the passages with a can of carb cleaner. I plan on tearing it apart again tonight and soaking it overnight. My question is what is a good cleaner to use? Also I have a clear glass fuel filter and over night I notice that the gas in the filter is discolored kinda yellow/brown. What could this mean? The carb is an Edelbrock 500 and the car is a 62 skylark.

Berrymans chem dip is about the best for soaking these days.

Does it remove the QJ color?

It can, yes if left too long. Generally color will be fine after 24 hour soak.
