Been thinking about this scenario for awhile. It didn't happen, but "what if".

Multi-day car tour (3 days, 2 nights), approximately 25 old cars. $30.00 of your $35.00 registration fee goes to a guy with a pickup and car trailer as a support vehicle in case of a major breakdown with one of the cars. The amount he gets covers his hotel, gas, and probably making a little money in the end.

The normal guy wasn't available so they had a friend of one of the members bring his pickup and trailer. Wasn't impressed with the guys trailer, seemed small, sat too high and with a sharp angle for the ramps.

What should happen if a car could not fit on the trailer? A shorter, longer, or heavier car (i.e. an early 70s Chrysler station wagon) that I think there would be no way the car could get on the trailer without getting stuck on the bottom of the car or even support the weight of some of the cars.

Would the pickup/trailer driver eat the cost of getting the car towed/trailered possibly 100+ miles to the car owner's home because he wasn't able to provide the service he was hired for. Or would the owner of the car be SOL and it would be his problem getting the car back home?

Anybody have this happen to them? Opinions on this in case it does happen.

Well, my insurance company offers roadside assistance for only $49 a year. Guaranteed flat bed service, up to 50 miles. This should cover most of my needs.

I would tell them to shove the fee for the trailer support, as with Walt my Insurance covers flat bed service plus I have AAA Plus on top of that.

Never thought about my insurance may have a provision for towing. Will be visiting my agent before the next tour.
