Today my car moved on its own for the first time since the fall of 2004. I broke a ring gear the last time at the strip and got burnt out racing all the time so I lost interest in the car. Also there is allot of other stuff I want/need to improve or fix on the car.

Fast forward to this spring, Steve Reynolds offered to sell me the spool and gears out of his car since he is putting it back to a street car. So a few weeks ago we made a road trip to Steve's place and had a nice talk and I came home with some rear end parts. I got cought up with other projects and finally got the rear end all fixed up last night. I went and got some fresh gas today for it, ran the fuel pumps, pumped the carb a few times and it fired right up and the oil pressure came up instantly. So I move all the junk that piled up around the car and drove it outside today and washed it. Its been so long since I have been in the car it was like a new toy again.

I need to update my fuel system before I race it again, I need to decide to sump the stock tank or put in a fuel cell. I got a set of good ported 430 heads last year but I have not got them on yet, and I keep putting off getting the cam I want to try. I think for now I will run it with the motor like it is to see if fixing the fuel system improves the way it runs in high gear, it pops out the exhaust and is just lazy after the 1/8 mile. I want to fix what I have before I make a bunch of other changes to it so I don't get totaly lost if it don't run right.

I understand exactly what you mean. I've done the drag only thing and have found that it just doesn't do it for me year in and out. I love the pro-street or street rod type car that is at home on the track or cruze night.

I like to drive my car, roll down all the windows a just cruze watching people freak when I pull up to the light.

Enjoy your ride. I know i've always enjoyed hearing about your combo.
